A difficult week

My sweet Xena who was not only my pet,she was my baby and my muse, passed away last week on my birthday.  To say I am devastated is an understatement.  I am so upset I can barely write it.  So her blog; A Kitty’s View will of course stay up as tribute to her but there will be no new posts.  Also I will be changing her book, adding a dedication as soon as I can; to my beloved sweet baby. Its been a week and I miss her so very much.

Real life is really delaying my creative life.

 

 Well I finished the new edition of Fantasy Time Inc. it was a difficult weekend, we had a flooded bathroom that leaked into the rest of the apartment. TMI?  Well that is my life 🙂

Currently in development is a new novel set in Japan, another in Africa, and a creative non-fiction work, allegedly an account of his extensive travels, but more likely the product of the voices in his head which have plagued him since puberty. Writing My Little Fingers To The Bone

I have sent off my memoir finally, now I am waiting for the final proof.  I finished the second draft of my new book Sandy and The Children of The Light to the editor,  I am on the last act of my play and I have been writing like a fiend.  The lot of a writer.

After some consideration I decided to extend the due date for the plays to April 15th. That should give everyone plenty of time to do all the final work that is needed. Working Hard Trying To Meet Deadlines

Thoughts on the loss of an Icon and my usual stuff

Please forgive this little remembrance but I have had a hard time concentrating today.  As I am sure all of you know an icon passed away today.  Leonard Nimoy has been part of our lives since the 60’s,  I was too young to watch Star Trek in its initial run but my Dad was huge fan and when he began his part of Paris in Mission Impossible I became a fan.  A few years later my cousin was in the first Star Trek movie and when I went to see him I fell in love Star Trek.  I was determined to see all the episodes which took patience and a commitment in the 70’s.  You had to wait for it to rebroadcast, no tapes, no DVDs, no DVR.  Just patiently waiting for it to play again.  I fell in love with all the characters, but Spock was special because though he was stoic he was such a vulnerable lonely man.  I felt such sympathy for him, he touched my heart.

Star Trek was the first fandom I became involved with. The first fan fictions stories I ever read was from Star Trek.  The first fan fiction stories I ever wrote was from Star Trek.  The first convention I ever attended was for Star Trek.  That was an amazing convention at the Los Angles Convention Center.  It was an anniversary of Trek, I don’t remember which one but the whole cast was on the stage.  I was so impressed, even though I was all the way in the back and they looked like tiny ants back where I was sitting.  I remember getting a soar throat  screaming and applauding Leonard Nimoy, Bill Shatner and Deforest Kelley on the stage.  I was so excited to see and hear them talk and joke.  And then Gene Roddenberry came on stage and talked about the origins of the show. Then they were all the stage chatting.  I was on cloud nine.  The next time I saw Leonard Nimoy was a smaller convention at the Burbank Hilton through Creation, He and Zachary Quinto were there to chat about and promote the new JJ Abram’s Star Trek.  It was the only time I got up close and chatted with him during the autograph period.  He was friendly and funny. He reminded me of my Dad.  I will miss him.

Lesson Learned and Back To Work

As a writer I always backed up my work but I did after I was done with the project not during the project.  But I had a virus on my laptop and it wiped out everything!!!!!!! They not only destroyed my software but my hardware. I took it to Best Buy and thank heavens for the Geek Squad it’s all fixed now, but I am just so mad I could spit. The good news is my proofs for my memoir and all the work I have done on my new YA novel are still with us. The bad news my word program and Nikon program are no longer there. Why do people do this? It is just so damn cruel.

Fantasy Time Inc. Had A Busy Weekend

I had a great time at the Condor Convention this past weekend! The panels were great! And I had so many people stop by my table in the dealer room! We had a lot of great conversations and signed a lot of my books.
