authorAll work and no play makes Sherri a dull girl, well that is what I did. I worked all weekend on my new memoir, I think one of the hardest parts of being a writer is editing. Yuck, but I have a lot of help and I hope I don’t miss a trick 🙂

Edits ain’t easy.

authorI have been working hard on three different books. The first one is my memoir, I am in one of the hardest for me. Editing.  That take a lot of concentration and to be honest it is not my talent. I just go through the edits of my beta’s and my family.  And then I send it out to be edited again to make sure I don’t miss anything.  It is tedious and very hard.  But it is oh so important. This is also my first non-fiction book and it is my life.  So I hope it will be interesting and entertaining.

I am also working on a YA book, it is the first part of series.  This is a first for me and it feels weird to be working on the first part knowing that it will be followed by more.  It has it’s own problems and frustrations but I am enjoying it.

The last is my book Fantasy Time Inc.  My book is no longer going to be available on the sell links.  I have pulled it.  I am going to expand and rewrite it and make it a better book.

fantasy time inc It will still be available as an e-book till the new and approved version of it is available in book form.  I also changed the book cover I think it is wonderful it was also created by Anja Gruber the talented artist who created all the illustrations for Different Is Beautiful.  It will be a better book when I get through it.  If you would like a first edition it will be available still be available through my website.

I am bringing back blog interviews with my fellow authors, so this month I am features; Jesse Frankel!

Here is our mini-interview;

What was the first book you remember loving? Do you still own it?—Wow, the first book I can remember really loving was Inferno, by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. It was an updated version of Dante’s catnip coverInferno and it was totally cool. I’ve always loved S?F and Fantasy, and yes,Jesse I still have it at my sister’s house in Canada.

.What kind of books do you like to read? Do those books have an effect on your own writing?—I prefer to read S/F and Fantasy, anything with action, and books that have a touch of romance in them as well. All of those things are like life itself—without monsters and orcs—but we all have a sense of adventure and whimsy in us, and that’s what I like to read about.

Do you remember what is the first book that touched you deeply?—Good question. I think it was Tuck Everlasting. It made me think about the consequences of immortality. Blessings and curses often go together. This book showed both sides of the coin.

Is there an era of writing that affects you? 1920, 1800’s so forth?—Mm…I prefer to read LindsayJoandtheTreeofForever (1)something that happens in the here and now, although with a twist to it. I’m not against historical dramas and what have you, but some I’ve read have been wrong in terms of the terms and artifacts used, and I like for things to be accurate. Just my thinking…I guess I’m a little OCD about it!

Where do you like to write? Is there a favorite nook or corner?—I have a writing desk set up in the corner of my apartment and slave away there. In between classes teaching English—my main job—I Lindsay-vs-Marauders (1) (1)doodle on napkins or in a notebook if an idea hits me.

Do you prefer one genre to another?—I prefer S/F and fantasy/adventure to everything else, but if a story is well written, then no problem. I have read diverse fiction, and various thoughts Twisted (1) (1) (1) (1)on orientation are no problem for me. I’ve written lesfic as well as straight YA, so I like to try different genres in reading as well as writing.

Do you like the feel of a book in your hands or do prefer an electronic devises?—To be honest, I love the smell of a new book, the crinkling of the pages in my hands, the feeling that “this is mine” and no one else can touch it. I do read books on my computer, but I guess I’m a little old-fashiioned. Paper is still where it’s at for me.

Can you tell us about what your working on now?—Right now, I’m editing an action/fantasy called Arcana in which an Indiana Jones-type adventurer makes a deal and finds out that he got more than he bargained for. Of course, there’s a whole boatload of action, a little romance, and some humor. I’ll see how it goes. I’m also editing Deathbytes300a F/F novel entitled What She Saw and working on the final of the Lindsay/Jo trilogy, Lindsay, Jo and the Well of Nevermore. It keeps me pretty busy!

Catching Up In The New Year!

Banner 460x60-bookfair (2)

To quote a truly great writer “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”  My book fair was a huge success and I would like to thank everyone for taking part in my book fair. It was a great success, We had over 3000 visits and I know books sold because I spent a lot of time fixing broken links, LOL. So thank you to both authors and readers. The site is still open please browse and buy books; http://wp.me/p2LjpY-Fd Again, Thank you.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

But it was the worst of times because my Kickstarter program bombed.  We didn’t even make 1000.00 so my hope for local regional theater died on the vine.  I am so sorry for that because I had done so much homework and really made a lot of effort into creating it.  All the spiritual books I have read say you learn more from your failures, so I am hoping I will learn from this and be enlightened in the future. But to be honest I think I am in a period of mourning about it right now. But I have to say a deep and sincere thank you to all the wonderful people who did take part and tried to help me create my dream.  Thank you.

Wow! 2001 followers on Twitter!!!!!  Isn’t that amazing? Thank you all for coming along on my ride 🙂
