Death by Water (Phryne Fisher, #15)Death by Water by Kerry Greenwood

I really enjoyed this story, despite the fact that only Dot was with her, Phryne really was able to do her thing. Poor Dot really got it this time, but she took on the chin helped with the mystery. Phryne was pretty wonderful, how she put all the pieces together of this complex mystery, even Agatha Christie did her part to help her solve it. (In book form, she wasn’t on the cruise.)

I love the cruise feel of the story, (especially right now during lockdown,) I really enjoyed how she figured out who she could trust and who was involved. I loved Cec’s neice, she is a cutie.

The only thing I really questioned was that they had lifeboat drill by going in the lifeboats and sailing out on the lifeboats. Really? Did they do that? When I went on a cruise (it was in the 1980’s) all they did was make sure that everyone was there, everyone had their life jackets and they read a boring but important procedural guide. Other then that I could feel it being like a cruise, it was very well done.

After the fire, at the Professor’s in the Crypt of Tears, Phryne decides she and Jack need to plan at a friendly club she knows. She runs into an old friend from school named Lady Caroline Dester who she is very reluctant to introduce to a still angry Jack. https://archiveofourown.org/works/25154677
