Dalai Lama on What Matters Most: Conversations on Anger, Compassion, and ActionDalai Lama on What Matters Most: Conversations on Anger, Compassion, and Action by Noriyuki Ueda

When I was in college I studied under a professor who was good friends with His Holiness, so when he came to the US, he spoke to our class. Our class was a senior class so it was tiny, “The Peoples Of India,” and our professor got some amazing speakers. So we were all excited to meet the Dalai Lama, but we thought of it as part of our class and no one was awe struck, as I heard from people who saw him at UCLA later during that same trip.

The man was a kind, with a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor and who explained his religion and the difficulties his people were having with China. He was real, down to earth, extremely knowledgeable and a delight. I really liked him and his brother who was his translator (though His Holiness spoke English very well.) They were both lovely and I have held that meeting as dear all these years later.

This book is a series of questions and answers, it is very interesting and gives a thorough understanding of Buddhism Beliefs for the layman such as myself. I really found it very thorough and interesting. But what I was missing in it was a sense of the person being interviewed. It was not all the dimensions of a brilliant man, and that did disturb me. But I learned a lot and found the little book most enlightening.

momAfter some difficult encounters with the medical profession over the years I wondered, What Has Happened To Hippocrates Medicine? So I wrote an article about it; http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/what-has-happened-to-hippocrates-medicine …

Yes, I am guilty of watching Real Housewives of New York. I always enjoyed Bethenny Frankel, I found her frankness (no pun bethennyintended) refreshing. So when she started her talk show I was interested in how she would incorporate her frankness into the show. My Mom does not watch Reality TV so she did not know Bethenny from a girl at Target. We started to watch it together and this is what happened; Bonding Through Bethenny http://wp.me/p2MXCg-21

I have to be honest I really can’t understand how a lot of younger people are unaware of classic movies. I still remember years ago my Dad and I were at lunch with a friend of mine. He was telling us about how much he loved old movies and when I asked about 1375312_625530040832266_1927937240_nmy favorite from that period, Cary Grant he replied, “Oh Cary Grant? I have heard of her.”  I wish cell phones took clear pictures like they do today I would clicked his expression because it was priceless. Needless to say we informed him that Cary Grant is a man.  A wonderful actor and one of kind. Now they keep comparing Cary with all kinds of young actors. Don’t get me wrong, I love George Clooney but; There Was Only One Cary Grant! http://wp.me/p2MXCg-1W
