The Thirteen Problems (Miss Marple, #2)The Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There is something special about this introduction of Agatha Christie’s second great sleuth; Miss Marple. Introduced through a series of short stories that allows you to truly get to know her. Her intelligence, compassion and humor. Her sweet expression belied by her sharp blue eyes as she sits quietly knitting almost forgotten by the others in the room. Even when she says she really had no idea what the solution was, she really did. Some people don’t enjoy reading short stories but I always have. It helps you to learn all the different sides of characters. And it teaches you just what an art the creating of a short story truly is and Agatha Christie was genius at it.

A Murder Is Announced (Miss Marple, #5)A Murder Is Announced by Agatha Christie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have always loved Miss Marple, her sweetness and kindness radiates from her, but her intelligence and need to find the truth drives her. Have you ever wished that a detective was real, sometimes when there is a horrible crime I hope for a little old lady who really knows what makes the world tick.

This story takes place in a small village that is full of retired people and young relatives and workers staying there too. In the local rag an announcement send all the neighbors running agog to see if what is announced, is true. A murder.

So read about the small village and how Miss Marple and Inspector Craddock solve this baffling who done it.

Agatha Christie as always so many layers that it is like trying to figure out how to re-weave a sweater. Give a go!

full cover of my bookEntering My Second Half by Sherri Rabinowitz

on October 5, 2015
Entering My Second Half by Sherri Rabinowitz was the perfect book to read during the last week of my 20s. Sherri’s insights into the world were truly enlightening and puts so much into perspective. Her story is compelling and her journey is inspiring and beautiful. Every detail laid out brought a full range of emotions: smiles and happiness from her loving family dynamic; awe from the amount of celebrities she encountered; sadness at the struggles of junior high. Sprinkled throughout are sweet jokes and thoughts to really show how with every low, there is always a high. Sherri’s messages include her personal life lessons, and the overall effect is a positive and uplifting outlook. I truly appreciated this memoir and I look forward to reading more from Sherri Rabinowitz!

Entering My Second is a enjoyable read. It recounts life events in author Sherri Rabinowitz’s life in positive and entertaining ways. From talking about the years of belittlement and bullying in school to working at studios among some of Hollywood’s elite, she includes the life lessons she’s learned along the way and encourages the reader to do the same with gentle advice attained by those lessons. This memoir is a interesting read well worth the time to read it.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sherri Rabinowitz has lived an interesting life. She recounts her childhood experiences moving cross-country several times, detailing the excitement and trauma that can accompany an abrupt change of venue and friends. She was fortunate to have a stong, loving family. Sherri meets each challenge head-on, and learns the value of new experiences. She leaves the reader with a sense of a person who is most definitely optimistic and eager about entering the next stage of her life.

Delightful book with a simple and affirming message, so important in a time where difference is commonly perceived as threatening. As the mother of a child with Aspergers, I would have loved a text like this when my son was tiny. With gorgeous colourful images that have an almost naive freshness to them, this is the perfect book to read with your grandkids.
